Streets of London Pub: Folsom’s Taste of the Isle’s
Streets of London Pub on East Bidwell Street in Folsom is a great place to go for great food and tasty cocktails for the 21 and over crowd. Nestled in a shopping center with a Mongolian Bar-b-Que restaurant and one of the nicer Dollar Tree stores in the area, Streets of London has ample parking and is only minutes away from Old Town Folsom. The proximity to the bars in Old Town makes the British-inspired pub a great place to begin or end an outing in Folsom’s night scene.
The appetizers here are a great addition to any meal. The beer-battered mushrooms are made from fresh white mushrooms instead of the frozen button mushrooms many restaurants serve. Deep-friend jalapenos are also on the appetizer menu, which seems out of place for a British pub, but is a welcome treat. The beer-battered pickles will have to wait until the next visit to the pub, but based on past experiences with both the quality of the pub’s appetizer’s and the unique taste of beer-battered pickles, it will be worth the wait. Streets of London also serves a few salads, and the Cesar Salad is by far the best of the bunch. Topped with crunchy croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese and a traditional Cesar dressing, it fills the craving for a Cesar salad and is a nice, light meal to accompany some of the darker and fuller beers served on tap at the bar.
As a British pub, Streets of London serves traditional British fare such as bangers and mash, fish and chips, and sausage rolls. Their burgers are also very good. My husband ordered the Big Ben, and the burger was literally the size of his head. He let me have a taste, and to make up for the size of the burger, the meat was light and airy with a meatloaf-like consistency, and the bun was light as well. The airiness of the meat and bun made the sheer size of the burger more manageable. Apparently another, larger burger is available, and if the burger is finished within an hour, the burger is free and the proud eater also gets a t-shirt for their immensely-sized burger-consuming ability.
The full bar and variety of beers on tap are what truly make Street of London a pub-like experience. The drink specials are also a treat, and the White Gummy Bear drink tastes exactly like white gummy bears and isn’t too sweet, but offsets the bitterness of the vodka nicely. Heaters on the outside patio entice patrons outside, and on a chilly night, the heaters are a welcome addition. A pool table and a dart board with two green-plaid couches inside complete the pub-like atmosphere of the bar.
Streets of London Pub is located on East Bidwell Street on Folsom, and there are two other locations at 1804 J Street in Sacramento and 2200 West Lake Boulevard in West Sacramento. For authentic British food, great burgers and appetizers, and good brew, Streets of London Pub is definitely worth a visit.
