Mixtape Review: Kidd Wes – It’s Only A Mixtape

Kidd Wes has a very versatile delivery, and that’s a good thing. I think he may still be trying to find which suits him best, so more power to him. He uses instrumentals that a lot of folks will be familiar with so they’re more likely to listen. I loved the Outro on this album. I felt like it was really Kidd Wes the artist and not someone just spitting over instrumentals for giggles. Read more

Album Review: The Roots – Undun

By Rehab

The Roots have always been one of my favorite groups of all time. I can remember the first album I’ve ever listen to from them was Things Fall Apart in the seventh grade. My older step brother was who put me on to them and told me in his words “stop listening to that garbage on the radio all the time.” Before The Roots, I was still in the typical mainstream listener mind frame. I was young and didn’t know any better. It was this album and the Reflection Eternal’s Train of Thought albums that changed my viewpoint of hip hop. The Roots made me realize that sometimes the best music is best being searched for and won’t be played on your local radio station. You’re going to have to invest some quality time and attention to anything The Roots put out. This didn’t change with Undun, the band’s latest offering, the 13th studio album since they hit the scene in the early 1990s. Read more

What’s A Lockout?

By Rehab

With the news of David Stern vetoing the Hornets/Lakers/Rockets trade, it begs the question that many are wondering: was this whole NBA lockout a hoax? What I mean by that is this whole “competitive balance” that the owners told the media. If you were to talk to a casual NBA fan, they would probably tell you that it seems as though the league at the moment isn’t exactly fair. There are the same 5 to 6 teams that are always in the post season year in and year out. The other 25 or so teams it’s a wash. There may be the new upstart team that everyone gets excited for and in the end, it always seems to be a Boston or Los Angeles squad that ends on top. It’s certainly frustrating to be a fan of a small market team, such as the Sacramento Kings or Milwaukee Bucks. Read more

Illeven Eleven San Fransisco Event Review

Last month Stevo Sativo and myself (DJ Vibe) attended a show in San Fransisco Called Occupy Illeven Eleven on 11.11.11.  Let me just put it this way, This Show was DOOOOPE!!!  If you are in to breakbeats like I am, you would have danced your ass off.  Steve and I decided that the line up was just too good to pass up.  So we made the trip from Sacramento to the Bay to go have a fun filled adventure. Review for TV Series Dead Like Me

Dead Like Me is a Science Fiction, Dark Comedy series about a girl names Georgia Lass who doesn’t seem to appreciate anything in her life.  She ends up getting a job and on her first lunch break she is killed by a toilet seat that falls from a Russian space station.  Once she realizes she is dead, she is told by Rube, the boss, that she has been chosen to become a grim reaper.  She meets up with the other reapers, Mason and Roxy in a waffle house where Rube gives them post-its every morning with names of people who are going to die and that they have to escort to the other side.  They do not kill the people that die, only take their souls out of their body before tragedy strikes.  The creatures who actually cause the people to die are called Gravelings. Reapers have physical bodies but do not look like their living selves.  They also must get normal jobs to fit in and continue to eat.  The reapers usually would squat in dead peoples homes for a place to live.  The series goes on this way with different lessons learned each episode.  It was a little too cheesy for my liking.  I give it two and a half stars.

Review for Jericho TV series

So I know this is a little late, seeing how the show originally aired back in 2006.  But I recently watched the TV series Jericho on Netflix.

Jericho, originally aired on CBS, is an action-adventure drama that takes place in a small town, called Jericho, in Kansas.  The main Character, Jake Green, goes back to his home town to try to get money from his parents that his grandfather left him.  Read more

Dating Tips

The power of the foot: Bored during a movie or want to make the meal a little flirty? One of the things you can do to intrigue your partner during a date is to initiate a game of footsie. Not sure if your partner is up for it? Maintain eye contact and try light tapping at first. Watch your date’s reaction and react appropriately. If they smile or show signs that they’re interested, move a little closer. You can continue the game by coyly rubbing and locking ankles. Don’t be afraid to shed a shoe or to move your foot a little up their leg. Remember to be gentle and natural. Playing footsie is an easy, low-pressure way to flirt and initiate physical contact, so try to relax and have fun! Read more
