Pharrell GIRL Album Review

pharrell girl

Pharrell Williams had a historical year in 2013 and now he is coming back in 2014 guns blazing. It all started with the pairing that included himself and Daft Punk on Daft Punk’s newest album Random Access Memories in 2013. Then he got his fingerprints on Robin Thicke’s catchy and unforgettable single “Blurred Lines.” Now he has his own solo album called GIRL coming out and it surely will be a Summer Kick Off album.

pharrellGIRL is only his second solo album. The album is full of happy (pun intended) upbeat tracks that make you want to dance the night away. The album also has an all star set of featured artists which include Alicia Keyes, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and back with vengeance another collaboration with Daft Punk. The three tracks that really pop out to me right away are “Gush,” “Gust of Wind with the Robots, and of course the one track that started it all, “Happy.”

As I listened to the album I grew to really appreciate his opening song “Marilyn Monroe.” The song truly girlshows that Pharrell has not forgotten his early roots with NERD. The song has a mixture of sounds that you would hear from past Pharrell songs and  newer Pharrell songs. The strange thing is that Pharrell’s first album In My Mind was not a big success; he actually has had more success with NERD than as a solo artist. He has been considered a great producer and has kept his hand in the pot but this time he put both hands in and has his fingerprints on everything. It almost seems that everything he touches is gold. I would give this album a listen and highly recommend getting your hands on it. GIRL will be a album that you will begin to hear on all your radio stations.
