REAL NAME: Griffin Montoya
DJ NAME: N/A
SHOW GENRE: Jazz (1930s/1940s) and Rock ‘n’ Roll (1950s/ Early1960s)
FAVORITE KSSU RADIO SHOW THAT’S NOT YOURS: Double Coverage with Noah Alvarez
THINGS YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT BEING AN AWESOME DJ: Listening to my vinyl records, watching or playing baseball, and enjoying the company of friends and family
GUILTY PLEASURES: I enjoy Frank Sinatra’s music with Columbia Records. When you mention Sinatra to someone, you hear them say that they love “Fly Me To The Moon” (Capitol Records) and “My Way” (Reprise Records), which are some songs from his later work. For me, I enjoy the years where Sinatra was a rising star singing hits like “Saturday Night Is The Loneliest Night of The Week” and “Mam’selle.” Not a lot of people really appreciate that era so that is why I’d call it my guilty pleasure.
WHICH CARTOON CHARACTER DO YOU MOST IDENTIFY WITH AND WHY: Goofy because he’s a clumsy dude. However, he is a loyal friend and would do anything to help and be there for the people he cares about. I feel like I’m similar to Goofy.
IF YOU COULD BE ANY CORE STAFF MEMBER WHO WOULD YOU BE: Albert. He’s the BlogFather you know.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPING: Grilled Chicken, but you got to get garlic sauce on your pizza to truly enjoy such a delicious topping.
IN A ZOMBIE ATTACK, WHAT WOULD BE YOUR WEAPON OF CHOICE: I’d use a Tommy Gun. If it is the end of the world, I want to go out in style so a Tommy Gun with a nice round drum would do a nice job.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT KSSU: I enjoy the diversity. There’s folks from different backgrounds around here, so it’s awesome to learn about them and make some new friends. It makes campus life for a commuting transfer student such as myself a lot nicer.
