Now in my 8th and (for now) final year of college, I’ve spent enough time in classrooms and around my peers to notice that some of them are completely inconsiderate, rude, entitled people. Granted, this can be said of any group of people. But there are some things that specifically college students do that I just haven’t observed in others. Now that the semester is nearly over and I’ve got some free time, I’ve compiled the top 5 most irritating, rude, and obnoxious behaviors of college students. Hopefully this post can serve as a public service announcement, and someone, somewhere, will learn something.
I’m currently sitting in Riverside Hall at Sacramento State listening to Modest Mouse to drown out the voices around me, and contemplating the presentation I just heard about Git. Now if you don’t happen to be a programmer this may be your first time hearing about it, or version control in general.
I woke up early, dressed in a new outfit, excited for the first day of my last year at school. I drove to school, weaving through traffic with brisk ease as I blasted some classic rock and sipped my coffee. Cars parted for me like I was Moses of the freeway- normally, morning traffic on highway 50 has my blood boiling by the Bradshaw exit, but not today. I got to school early, found a great spot in the parking structure close to the Union. Today was going to be a good day.
Originally, I was considering becoming a music major, but I ended up going to an orientation session for undecided majors, so I had no idea how to even begin to get into it. My orientation leaders didn’t know much about anything. I was left to fend for myself and so virtually blindly, I ended up signing up for “Beginning Music”. Perfect. Three credits, fulfills a GE requirement and a step in the musical direction if I choose to take that path. Right? [Read more…]
