Music Review: ICS Vortex – “Storm Seeker”

Many could argue that Dimmu Borgir’s global success is thanks to the utilization of the sporadic soring vocals of bassist and clean vocalist Simen Hestnæs AKA ICS Vortex. So the metal world was shocked to learn (via Myspace post) that Vortex was booted from the band in 2009 alongside keyboard player Mustis. The following year the remaining members toured and played recordings of a choir singing Vortex’s parts over-compensating for their departed member. Refusing to fade into obscurity like some former Dimmu Borgir members Vortex now had the time to rejoin bands he left and launch an official solo project. [Read more…]
